Ham Yard Project Page

Ham Yard Hotel, Soho, London

Firmdale are becoming increasingly well known for their boutique hotels in London and New York , in order to develop the land they acquired just off Piccadilly a combination of brick faced , natural stone and white recon panels were used across 13 differing elevations creating a unique courtyard as well providing all the frontages.

This project was the first one which the City of Westminster planners allowed the use of recon as a replacement for natural Portland stone and hence has been the subject of much scrutiny leading to much positive comment.

The location of the site dictated that there was no storage space and so just in time delivery was the only option with early mornings being required to avoid the daily business of the busy London streets leading into Soho. The geometry of the site plan required very detailed design interface with existing structures as well as strict control over the on site setting out.
