With student accommodation the programme is always driven by the need to have property available to suit the academic year and this in turn requires fast track construction , on the Stratford One project Thorp not only produced and installed the brick slip faced punch window opening panels but also managed the installation of the windows into the panels off site such that as the units were being placed onto the structure at an average rate of 5 panels per day by the installation teams a fully enclosed fabric was being provided.
The works carried by Thorp also included all the internal cavity barriers and insulation applied to the rear of the panels once installed and floors were released quickly and efficiently for the following fit out trades.
As the project is directly adjacent to HS 1 the panels were installed by a combination of strictly managed mobile lifts and site tower cranes , the mobiles were used at the lower levels whilst the upper structure was still being progressed and as the structure completed then the tower cranes were released to Thorp to progress up to the full 24 storey height of the project.
